Introducing Omnicomm: A New Name for Modern Customer Communication

Say goodbye to "hybrid mail" and hello to Omnicomm, Funasset's communication solution rebrand that delivers the same high quality service and results

Introducing Omnicomm: A New Name for Modern Customer Communication

For many years, the term "hybrid mail" has been used to describe services that allow organisations to create documents electronically before they are printed, enclosed and delivered through the traditional postal network. While that remains an important part of our communication solution, the term no longer reflects what the platform has become. That is why our communication solution is now known as Omnicomm.

The name Omnicomm reflects the much broader role the solution now plays in helping organisations manage communications with customers, patients, residents, suppliers and other recipients. Rather than being centred around a single delivery method, Omnicomm provides a platform through which documents and correspondence can be produced, managed and delivered using the communication channel most appropriate for the recipient and the organisation sending it.

Why the name Omnicomm?

The name combines the ideas of "omni", meaning all or encompassing, and "communication". This better represents a solution designed to bring multiple forms of document communication together within a single system. Physical mail remains fully supported, but it now sits alongside electronic delivery through email and messaging, giving organisations considerably more flexibility over how correspondence reaches its destination.

Importantly, Omnicomm is not simply about adding alternative delivery channels to a traditional mail production service. It is designed to become part of an organisation's existing document workflow, receiving documents and associated delivery information from established business systems and then managing their production and distribution. This enables organisations to modernise communication without necessarily replacing the software and processes their staff already use.

Much more than hybrid mail

Traditional hybrid mail is generally associated with taking an electronically generated document, printing it at a central production facility, inserting it into an envelope and placing it into the postal system. Omnicomm can continue to manage this complete physical mail process, but organisations are no longer restricted to producing a printed item for every communication.

Where appropriate, correspondence can instead be delivered electronically, helping organisations reduce their reliance on print, envelopes and postage while also allowing information to reach recipients more quickly. Physical and electronic communications can be managed through the same solution, allowing users to introduce digital delivery gradually while retaining traditional mail for recipients or document types where it remains necessary.

This is becoming increasingly important as organisations face rising print and postage costs while customers and service users increasingly expect information to be available digitally. Omnicomm provides a practical way to respond to both pressures without forcing organisations into an entirely digital approach.

"Existing users of our hybrid mail solution should continue to expect and benefit from a feature-rich solution that reduces costs and improves effiency", states Rob Webb, Director of Funasset. "Alongside the Omnicomm rebrand, there is also a visual improvement to the web interface where mail is managed and the system is administered."

One solution for physical and digital communication

Omnicomm provides a central point from which organisations can manage outbound document communication, whether the final destination is an email inbox, a messaging service or a physical letterbox. Existing systems can continue to generate documents in the normal way, while Omnicomm handles the subsequent production and delivery process according to the organisation’s requirements.

The result is a communication platform that extends well beyond the conventional definition of hybrid mail. It combines the established benefits of centralised physical mail production with modern electronic delivery, integration and greater control over how correspondence is distributed.

The change to the Omnicomm name therefore represents more than a rebrand. It reflects how the solution itself has evolved: from a system traditionally associated with producing and posting letters into a comprehensive communication platform capable of supporting the way organisations need to communicate today.
